Setyo Budiantoro

Hi, my name is Setyo Budiantoro, familiarly called Budi. I am based in Jakarta, working at the National SDGs Secretariat of BAPPENAS as the Manager of Economic Development Pillar. My workplace supports and facilitates the inclusive process of SDGs implementation on the national and sub-national levels.

Previously, I was a member of the Working Group of the Presidential Office, involved in budget advisory and policy development. I was also the Executive Director of Perkumpulan Prakarsa, a think tank based in Jakarta, and an Expert Advisor at UNDP Indonesia. Additionally, I have professional experience as a visiting lecturer, a scholarship reviewer, and a senior consultant.

I studied mechanical engineering for my undergraduate. I studied economics in the Post-Graduate Program University of Indonesia, then finished my Master of Economics of Development degree in the International Institute of Social Studies at Erasmus University, Rotterdam. I also had a chance to learn more at Oxford University.

My strengths lie in my leadership, networking capability, complex problem solving, and writing skills. I have won several national competitions for ideas regarding economic development issues. My portfolio includes books on economic development, book reviews, and over fifty op-ed articles published in almost all prominent national newspapers (Kompas, The Jakarta Post, Bisnis Indonesia, Kontan, Investor Daily, Media Indonesia, etc). I’m also experienced in writing policy analysis and drafting speeches for high-level officials.

In my downtime, I enjoy reading, swimming, and outdoor traveling.
