Nur Hidayati

Hello, I am Nur Hidayati, familiarly called Yayah. 

A 20-year experience in Kompas as a journalist and editor shows me that a journalistic world is never boring. It's a never-ending process of learning and growth. I am currently managing Economic Desk for the newspaper and its digital platform: Kompas.id. 

My line of work gets me exposed to the lives of people, the struggle of the poor, the resilience of NGOs' hard work. At the same time, I am engaged with the ups and downs of business entities, as well as the policies taken by the government. 

Those experiences allow me to see the challenges of policymaking at both the local and national levels. On the other hand, it is clear to me that the people who make up the public are not simply numbers or data. They are the stakeholders to the outcome of any actions taken. The insights from those experiences motivated me to pursue the Master of Public Administration program at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy - National University of Singapore, graduated in 2017.

I love connecting with people. I am frequently inspired and energized by those I meet, whether they are considered prominent or ordinary citizens. Whether it is "just" for an interview, exchanging knowledge or experience, finding common ground, or creating collaboration projects and mutual partnerships. No less important, let's be inspired!
